A well-established R&D innovator of digital signal processing and AI is in fast growth mode and ramping up their expertise with the search for new talent for their advanced technology R&D site. They are seeking 2 Control Systems Research Scientists to roll-up their sleeves and join them on a voyage of discovery and invention!

Your role here includes:

This is a very exciting opportunity to work in a highly sophisticated R&D lab as a researcher and algorithm designer, on technologies such as piezoelectric and Shape Memory Alloys (SMA's), for very high profile commercial projects on topics such as haptics, mobile telephone camera lens and smart-amplifier controls.

For example, we are looking for talent that can research latest concepts for high precision SMA's for use in small devices such as HDD, auto-focus lens controls, managing environmental factors whilst delivering revolutionary performance.

We are looking for technically driven and quality focused and creative research pioneers that thrive on the exploration of new technologies and applications, able to rapidly prototype concepts, communicate excellently within an international stakeholder community.

Your responsibilities include:

* Scouting for new feature developments that will control SMA drivers/VCM motors for lens control in camera modules, and LRAs and piezoelectric to drive actuators to create haptic effects.
* You will closely follow-up research publications, conferences, and build a PoC, to illustrate your concepts to management, rapid prototype strong products with your colleagues, coaching and mentoring development teams in the process as well as guiding and mentor PhD students.
* In this context, you will be able to roll up your sleeves, and make use real-time processing platforms (RPi, BeagleBone, etc.) to fast prototype PoC (in Matlab, Python).
* Additionally, validating the solution by testing, both the functionality, and the mathematics, by means of software testing tools and frameworks, scripting in Python, reviewing FxP C code implementation, in parallel, utilising your subjective listening abilities.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

What you bring to the team:

* PhD or MSc in engineering or related discipline.
* Good communication skills to work with the rest of the multi-cultural and disciplinary team and with end-customer teams and management relationships.
* Comprehensive knowledge of digital signal processing.
* 5 years plus digital signal processing algorithm design experience.
* Strong knowledge of control systems.
* Agile (scrum).
* Python, Matlab.
