Roles can be based London or Edinburgh:

Multiple roles in Data Architecture & Data Engineering for a large Financial organisation to work on Data Architecture, Data Layer, Data Lake, Big Data, Analytics and Hub solutions across regulatory, GDPR and Financial Crime areas. MUST have strong Data Architect or Data Engineering with Big Data and AWS Cloud experience ideally.

Roles include a mix of hands on engineering skills across Big data and cloud technologies: AWS, EC2, Cloud, NoSql, MongoDb, Kafka, Spark, Data Lakes, Data Governance, Analytics, Cache Modelling, Hadoop etc as well as high level design, Data Strategy, Architectural blueprints, Security Architecture and strong experience with large scale data migrations, cloud migration and sitting on desig authority boards. Examples below:

Snr Data Architect:

* Hub architecture including

* Data Layer including

* Data store architecture (document NoSQL based on use of Mongo DB so compressed text in the main)
* Indexes framework for geo, path, fulltext, value, security etc optimisation for rapid, constant and high volume querying
* Cache modelling
* Integrity e.g. journal. Orchestration/ coordination of transactions. Is Stuart following a CQRS model?

* Query Layer

If patterns are Hadoop based

* Map (broadcaster)
* Reduce (aggregator)
* Cache modelling
* Parsing, evaluation and program calls

* API framework architecture. Interface/ service design patterns (REST, XQuery, Java, .Net etc), catalogue
* Technical Architecture - Replication (chain) strategy/ architecture

* Data Fabric approach?
* Experience of Mongo DB, Kafka. What of Spark, Talend etc. Also is MarkLogic included?
* Initial use case is Fraud and wider Fin Crime (1st - 2nd lines of defence)
* Must have good communication/ influence skills with both business and tech as will need to sell the use and benefits of ODS

* Design authority, runs review and governance sessions

* Deliverables

* Architecture blueprint at all levels - needs to be business facing so strong communicator
* Architecture Patterns
* Tech integration/ configuration (no selection)
* Design authority, runs review and governance sessions

Data Architect:

The role is within the metadata architecture team within the wider Data Architecture team and is for a senior data architect who, in addition to the usual data architecture expertise has a deep understanding of :

* Model driven architecture, i.e. driving architecture /solutions from business requirements models through to design models before implementing physically.

o Business conceptual models

o Logical data models

o Physical design data models

* Data Lineage - how to trace physical data implementations back to their business meanings and use in business processes
* Data Quality- how to develop a preventative approach to identification / control of data quality issues.
* Data Control - methods / models for understanding and controlling data flows
* Graph / network thinking - any experience with graph databases and the object/relationship thinking underpinning it.

Jnr Data Architect/ Senior Data Engineer

* Responsible for one or more components of the RBS Big Data (& Analytics) Platform

* Data Lake
* Ingestion/ Integration
* Management Controls - Data processing, access, security, storage/ compute architecture for usage patterns against capacity & performance
* Data Governance?
* Data usage/ dissemination?

Deliverables will be lower level technical design/ architecture. Working closely with development (engineering) and ops to ensure understanding of what is being delivered

The suitable candidates MUST have experience in large scale Financial services and/or banking organisation or similar enterprise level orgs with very large data environments. ONLY candidates with both the relevant technical and data experience as well as the doman sector experience in finance will be considered.

In addition candidates who have previous experience in any data regulatory areas, data harvesting, poss GDPR data collection or possibly Financial Crime and Fraud data would also be very welcome.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work with multi site team is essential and good knowledge of the British finance sector is essential.

Roles can be based in either London or Edinburgh.
